Frequently asked questions
General questions
Do I need to register to view data?
No. Club, player, tournament, season, standings and rating pages can be viewed without signing in.
Why am I seeing another club?
Data and actions depend on club context — the club whose page is open. Check the club name in the top menu. See Club context.
Why are Create and editing buttons missing?
Only the open club’s administrator can manage it. Other users can view data; administrators can create and edit their club’s players, teams, tournaments and seasons. See Club administrator.
How do I find a player, tournament or season?
Open the relevant club section and use search. Season search combines with status and date filters. Player and tournament lists offer pagination and sorting where supported.
How do I change the theme?
Use the theme switch in the main menu. Your choice is saved in the browser. See Themes.
Players and teams
How is a player different from a tournament participant?
A player is a permanent profile in the club. A participant is a player registered for a specific tournament. One player can enter different events with different lineups. See Players and teams and Registering participants.
Why is a player missing from the tournament list?
They may not be registered, may have withdrawn, or may appear as a replaced participant. Check Participants and substitution history. Only club administrators can change lineups.
What happens when a player is replaced?
Earlier results remain with the original player. The replacement continues from that point. Both may appear as separate rows to preserve history. See Substitutions and withdrawals.
Can I delete a player to remove their results?
Deleting a profile and removing participation are different actions. Tournament results are retained in history; first check whether withdrawal or a lineup correction is needed. See Registering participants.
Tournaments
How do I choose a tournament system?
Swiss suits many participants and limited rounds, round robin lets everyone meet, and playoffs eliminate participants progressively. See Tournament systems.
Why are pairings not being generated?
Check lineups, participant count and system constraints. An odd Swiss field may produce a BYE. Team round robin requires fixed teams. See Pairings.
What is a BYE?
A BYE is a round without an opponent when a complete pairing is impossible. It appears among matches but is not a played game and does not affect ratings. See Swiss system.
Why do standings points differ from games played?
Tournament points may include BYEs and technical results. Ratings and performance use only eligible played games. See Ratings and Standings.
Why can’t I finish a tournament?
Before completion, the service lists unresolved matches, required rounds or an undecided playoff winner. Review warnings and enter missing results. See Managing a tournament.
What changes after completion?
The status becomes Finished, standings are finalized and rated events save rating results. Linked season data is updated. See Managing a tournament.
Why can’t I change a result?
Result editing and pairing management require club administrator access and depend on tournament status. Normal management is restricted after completion. See Managing a tournament.
Ratings
Why does a player have a rating of 0?
They have no calculated rating for the selected variant and category yet. Their first completed rated tournament produces a provisional rating marked ?. See Ratings.
What does the question mark beside a rating mean?
The rating is provisional: fewer than 10 eligible rated games have accumulated in that category. It disappears after completing a tournament that brings the count to 10 or more.
Why didn’t a win change the rating?
Check that the event is rated and finished, the game has a result and the opponent has an established rating. BYEs and technical results do not affect ratings. Small changes can also round to zero.
How does rating differ from performance?
Rating is a cumulative estimate carried into later events. Performance describes one tournament. A high performance does not immediately replace the established rating. See Ratings.
Why does a tournament rating differ from the player list?
A tournament shows its starting rating or calculated change; the player list shows the current value after later events. Check that the variant and time control match.
Why does one player have several ratings?
Each variant and time control has a separate rating; Blitz and Rapid, for example, are not combined. See Ratings.
Seasons and bonuses
Why is a tournament missing from a season?
It must be linked to the season and included among counted tournaments. Completed events can be added from the season menu. See Creating a season.
What does a counting percentage such as 80% mean?
The service selects the best results from that proportion of season tournaments. Base points and automatic bonuses come only from selected events. Manual bonuses count from all eligible events. See Creating a season.
Why wasn’t a bonus awarded?
Check that the field or rule is enabled for the tournament, the player meets its conditions and changes are saved. Rules follow priority and stacking settings. See Season bonuses.
What happens when a bonus rule is disabled?
It remains configured in the season but stops awarding points for the selected tournament. Saved season data is recalculated accordingly. See Season bonuses.
Why is a manual bonus visible but an automatic bonus missing?
Manual values and automatic rules are counted separately. With a best-tournament limit, manual bonuses count from all included events, while automatic bonuses count only from selected events.
How do I change a season’s status?
On the season page, administrators use the three-dot menu to start, finish, resume or return a season to Created. See Creating a season.
Interface, saving and errors
These questions cover interface behavior: lists not updating, Save button availability and loading errors. Tournament and rating rules are covered in their respective sections above.
What if a player, tournament or season list does not update after saving?
Refresh the relevant page and check the club context. After creating an item, wait for the success message and reopen its list.
Why is Save disabled in a bonus dialog or edit form?
Save becomes available only after data changes. If values match what is already saved, there is nothing to save. Disabled or excluded bonuses also do not create changes to save.
What if players, tournaments, seasons or page data fail to load?
Note the message, refresh and reopen the page or list. If the error persists, give the administrator the club, player, tournament or season name and the section that failed.
Where can I find detailed instructions?
Use documentation search or browse Clubs, Players, Tournaments, Seasons and Ratings.
