A tournament is the central entity in Bar Chess Manager. All games take place within one: it combines participants, system, pairings, matches, results, standings and final statistics. Every tournament belongs to a club. It can also belong to a season, whose totals then include its results.
Tournament cards
Tournament cards summarize event information. Their appearance varies on the homepage, in search and in club lists. Homepage cards include a club-related background image.
Main tournament parameters
Cards summarize settings and status. Which elements appear depends on location, but parameter choices are consistent.

Additional information
Tournament format
Format determines who competes and how results count: individual players or teams.
Standard and Chess960 support individual and team formats. Bughouse, Doubles 2x2 and Hand and Brain are team-only: selecting such a chess variant disables individual format.
Tournament lifecycle
A new tournament has status Created. All settings and participant registration can be edited at this stage. Click Start tournament to begin.
After starting, its status becomes In progress. You can generate pairings, record results and change only settings that do not affect existing matches. Swiss and round-robin events can also add playoffs.
Click Finish tournament to complete the event. Its status becomes Finished. Completion calculates rating changes, season results and final data. Finished tournaments cannot be edited.
Rated status
All tournaments show player ratings for the time control category, chess variant and competition formatspecified for the event.
After such a tournament finishes, the service recalculates player ratings for its time control category, chess variant and format.
This tournament does not affect ratings. Performance and ratings are informational only; per-game rating changes are not shown.
See Ratings.
What the tournament page shows
The page has three main sections: Information, Pairings and Standings. For a full guide, see Tournament page.
Information. Detailed settings, playing conditions and participants. See Tournament page.
Pairings. Matches, results, rounds and tournament management actions. See Tournament pairings.
If the tournament uses a mixed system with qualification and playoffs, Pairings and Standings include a stage switch. View qualification (Swiss or round robin) or playoff pairings and standings.
