Standings

Reading places, points, tiebreaks, round results and playoff brackets.

Standings

Standings shows participant positions. Each entered result recalculates points, additional statistics and places. The regular stage uses a participant table; playoffs use a visual series bracket.

Regular-stage standings

Swiss and round robin show places, statistics and round results. Individual events have one row per player. Fixed-team events have one row per team. Random-team events retain individual standings, though each player earns their temporary team’s result.

The top shows the round count and time control category.

Reading a participant row

Statistics run left to right. Wide screens show one table; phones show a compact table followed by separate round results. Both can scroll horizontally.

ColumnWhat it shows
No.Current place. Without playoff zones, the top three get medals.
NamePlayer or team. Withdrawn participants retain a marker and their history. After a substitution, an additional replaced row appears below.
RatingPlayer rating for the selected variant and time control, or team rating. Rated events may show green or red changes. ? means provisional.
Perf. / RPTournament rating performance. Green means above starting rating, red below. — means it cannot yet be calculated.
PointsMain tournament score: win 1, draw 0.5, loss 0. Team events use team match results.
CTiebreak for equal points. Currently Buchholz, the sum of opponents’ current points.
IPIndividual board contribution in applicable random-team events. If a team wins 2–1, all members receive 1 under Points, but the two board winners get 1 IP each and the board loser 0. This separates players with equal team results.
Games / GGames or matches played. G is used on mobile.
WWins.
DDraws.
LLosses.
1, 2, 3…Each round’s result. Displayed in the main table on wide screens and separately on mobile.

Tiebreaks

Tiebreaks separate equal points. Additional indicators are labeled TB1, TB2, TB3 and TB4; smaller numbers are applied earlier.

The comparison order is:

  1. Points. The main score.
  2. IP — individual board points. Used only in applicable random-team events, where the column is labeled TB1.
  3. C — coefficient. Buchholz, the sum of opponents’ points. Normally TB1, or TB2 when IP precedes it.
  4. Perf. / RP — rating performance. Labeled TB3.
  5. W — win count. Labeled TB4.
  6. Starting rating. Used only if everything above is equal; no separate TB label.

For two players on 3 points, the higher Buchholz ranks first: their opponents scored more points in total. If equal, performance and then wins are compared.

Results by round

Columns 1, 2, 3 and so on show points and colors for each round: 1w is a White win, 0b a Black loss, ½w a White draw.

  • means a BYE;
  • Chessboard means a pairing exists but has no result yet;
  • — means no match exists for that participant in this round.

Hover over a result to see the opponent and rating. Clicking briefly highlights that opponent’s row, making encounters easier to check in large tables.

Preview and export

Standings preview and export.

Once results exist, two buttons appear on the right: — preview the table for publication, — share or download it as PNG. On mobile, these buttons appear above the table.

Playoff export starts at quarterfinals (R8): quarterfinals, semifinals, third-place match and final. Earlier stages — rounds of 32, 64 and 128 — are not shown on the export card.

Team tournaments

The table follows the selected scoring model:

  • fixed teams occupy places as teams; points, tiebreaks and statistics refer to team matches;
  • random teams rank players. Each receives their temporary team’s result for that round; board matches may also display individual points IP.

See Format and teams for rosters, pairing and scoring.

Playoff zones in qualification

Mixed-event qualification standings can highlight upper-bracket, lower-bracket and elimination zones according to playoff settings. Vertical labels show each zone’s boundaries and who advances where.

Qualification order becomes playoff seeding. Administrators can review and adjust bracket lineups before starting; see Managing a tournament.

Playoff standings

Standalone and mixed-stage playoffs display a bracket. Each card is a series between two players or teams, showing seed, participants, rating and current series score.

Columns progress toward the final: quarterfinals, semifinals, final and, if created, third-place match. Winners are highlighted and advance to the next stage. With two brackets, upper and lower are shown separately, each with a winner.

Hover over a series card for all game results. Click to open the full series in a dialog, with participant ratings in parentheses. ? indicates a provisional rating.

Before starting, the bracket is replaced by Playoffs have not started yet. See Playoffs for selection, brackets and series.

Mixed system

Mixed events have the same stage switch on Standings as on Pairings. Choose Swiss or round-robin qualification standings, or the playoff bracket.
