Bonuses outside tournaments
Bonuses outside tournaments let you award season points for activities that are not recorded as tournaments in the service. For example, a club may run regular online events elsewhere and include their results in its season standings.
Create an Online tournaments field and record awards after each event. Each player’s points accumulate under that field and contribute to their season total. You do not need to create a tournament in the service.
For club administrators
Administrators can manage awards for their own club. On the season page, below the heading beside the dates, select Bonuses. Players can see saved awards in the leaderboard details.
Fields, entries and events
| Term | Purpose | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Bonus field | Collects points for one kind of activity throughout the season. | Online tournaments. |
| Entry | Records one player’s points, field, date and comment. | Maxim: 3 points for online blitz on 6 October. |
| Event | Groups entries with the same field, date and comment. | Several players’ results from one online blitz event. |
There is no separate step to create an event. Give several players a shared field, date and comment when entering awards. Their entries appear together in Events. Entries added later with those same values join the same group.
Reuse a field for recurring activities
Use one Online tournaments field throughout the season. Distinguish individual events by date and comment. The leaderboard then shows a cumulative total for the activity while the history preserves each event.
Set up bonus fields
- Open Bonuses on the season page.
- Select Manage fields, then Add field.
- Enter a Name, such as Online tournaments or Club activities.
- Optionally add a Description explaining when points are awarded and how the amount is determined.
- Save the field and return to the entries.
The name is required; the description is optional. Use beside a field to change its name or description. Renaming does not change awarded points.
These fields are for awards outside tournaments and do not appear in an individual tournament’s bonus window. Tournament fields are configured separately: see Manual fields.
Add points
Select Add points. One form can contain a single player or several players.
Shared details
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Bonus field | The reason for the award, selected from this season’s fields. |
| Date | When the activity took place. A new form suggests today; you can change it. |
| Comment | An event name or explanation that helps you find the entry later. Optional. |
Search for a player by name or surname and choose a suggestion. Repeat to add more players. Selected players appear in the table below.
Set each player’s Points. The initial value is 1; the input’s increment is 0.5. You can type another value, including a negative amount. Zero-point entries cannot be saved: remove a player from the form if they should receive no points.
Review the entries and select Save. They immediately contribute to the season standings.
Individual dates and comments
With several players selected, Add an individual comment and date appears below each name.
- An individual date replaces the shared date for that player. Leave it empty to use the shared date.
- An individual comment replaces the shared comment. It may be blank if that entry needs no comment.
- Select to clear the individual values and use the shared details again.
For one player, use the shared fields. If you remove other players until only one remains, that player’s individual date and comment move into the shared fields, preserving the entered information.
Example: an online event
Choose Online tournaments, set the date to 6 October, and enter Evening blitz as the comment.
| Player | Points |
|---|---|
| Maxim | 3 |
| Maria | 2 |
| Ilya | 0.5 |
Saving creates one group in Events: 3 players, 5.5 points. Each player has their own entry. If Maxim already had 4 points under Online tournaments, his total for that field becomes 7.
Giving Ilya a different date or comment places his entry in a separate event group. Grouping does not change his season total.
Three views
Players / Entries / Events show the same records in different arrangements.
| View | Use it to | Expanded details |
|---|---|---|
| Players | Check a player’s totals by field and overall. | Their entries, with field, date, comment and points. |
| Entries | Find and correct one record. | Every entry is already shown as a separate row. |
| Events | Review or edit an event’s awards together. | Players and points sharing the same field, date and comment. |
In Players and Events, select a row or its arrow to open the nested table.
Search and filters
Players and Entries search by player name or surname. Events also searches comments, such as Evening blitz.
The button opens these filters:
- Period: From / To filters by the award date, including both boundary dates. Either boundary can be left empty.
- Bonus field selects one field or all fields.
Initially, all dates and fields are included. Reset clears both filters and search. Total points and the entry count describe the matching records. Searching for a player in Events narrows the players displayed within each group.
Edit entries
One entry
The button opens the entry’s saved details. You can change its field, date, comment and points.
Points can also be edited directly in the table in all three views. In Entries, the field, date and comment are editable in the same way. Select a value, change it, and select . Select to discard the edit and restore the previous value.
Changing a date, comment or field may move an entry to another event group. The entry has not been lost. If it no longer matches your filters, reset them to find it.
A whole event
Open the event’s menu and select Edit points entry. The form contains all players in the event, including those hidden by search.
The shared field, date and comment apply to the group; points remain individual. You can add individual details or remove a row with , after confirmation.
Removing a row inside the form takes effect only when you select Save. Closing without saving preserves the original entries. To award another player points for the same event, add a new entry with the same shared details.
Delete entries
| Action | What is deleted |
|---|---|
| beside an entry | That entry only. |
| Delete all in an event menu | All entries with the same field, date and comment. |
| Delete entries in a player menu | All of that player’s awards outside tournaments in this season. |
Deletion requires confirmation. Confirming deletion from the main table immediately removes those points from the season result.
Group deletion includes hidden entries
Search and filters do not limit bulk deletion. Delete all removes the whole event. Delete entries beside a player removes their entire outside-tournament history for this season, including other fields and dates outside the selected period. Check the player or event and the number of entries in the confirmation.
These actions do not delete tournament results or bonuses awarded within tournaments.
Leaderboard results
Awards accumulate by bonus field and contribute to the player’s total points. They can change the player’s season place. The season’s usual tie-breaks apply when total points are equal.
Example
Maxim has 18 points and Maria has 20. An online award of 3 points takes Maxim to 21, placing him above Maria.
The best-tournament limit does not reduce these awards. They count in full in both counted and full-table views. They do not change tournament counts, tournament places, game results, ratings or performance. A player can appear in the leaderboard with these bonuses alone, without having played a tournament in the season.
Expand the player’s leaderboard row. Bonuses outside tournaments appears below tournament results, listing each entry’s field, date, comment and points, followed by Total points for this section. This total is already included in the player’s overall score.
Season totals update automatically after saving, editing or deleting awards. There is no need to rebuild the season after each change.
